…..are made better with chocolate cake! Or in this case homemade vegan chocolate cake with nutella and strawberries….sometimes it’s all you need to make a stressful day better-yesterday was one of those days. No particular reason-just a culmination of things. But yes the cake made it better.

An Hour to Spare

I had an hour before starting work this morning and I had to decide whether I wanted to

A. Shower

B. Make Something

Well since I work from home I decided option A wasn’t really worth my time-so I chose B and whipped up these cute pajama pants for E and P. I’ve had the fabric forever now and E was really beginning to doubt me when I said I was making something for him and P out of it. I’m not really a “have your kids wear matching clothes” (no offense to those that do it-it looks cute sometimes) But I am A-Ok with matching pjs. These are going to be perfect for summer since it’s such a light fabric. Oh and in case you were worrying-I still had time to shower and look halfway decent for work

Happy Mother’s Day

Hope everyone enjoyed a great weekend! I was on a “no-work allowed weekend” which allowed for a lot of time spend outdoors. I created these awesome picture hangers for mine and justin’s moms-and I love how they turned out-some of my crafty ideas are better left in my head-but not this one-we’re planning on making some more of these for our house for pics and to hang some of the kids art projects. I hope to have a tutorial up on these this week-but knowing me it will come next week if I’m lucky

Hope you get a chance to enjoy some of the great weather(it’s perfect here in WI today-we’re stuck inside with a little guy with a fever and a little girl with a faucet for a nose oh and I’m seeing more than my fair share of Dora and Bubbleguppies.

Still Considered a Win

Yes the following all happened today-but I am still counting this as a win for mom day.

My son pants-ed me at the library(for the 2nd time in two weeks)

I was told “I peed on my bedroom floor…I tried to poop too but didn’t have to go”

A plethora of stickers were was found and are now decorating a cozy coop

“Hey that lady only has two-teeth”-picture this in a really loud three year old voice with pointing

My son has decided that he is “going to yoga class” but insists you can only go in your underwear…wait I take that back he just put on his sisters pink winter coat with his underwear

Shortened naps-probably due to the peeing incident.

A variety of temper tantrums from a little girl that is just as loud as her older brother and insists on letting everyone know

But along with these things came countless hugs, holding hands with both kids, errands accomplished, a large qty of orders delivered to the post office, a trip to the YMCA, a pretty good dinner(I call it a good dinner if both kids eat a decent amount), and being told that you’re a little guys favorite mom in the whole world. Life sure is interesting but I wouldn’t trade it for anything….well most days.

Oh I almost forgot…my son gave himself a swirley today too

Barely Treading Water

That’s pretty much how I feel lately. Trying to balance being a Stay at Home Mom, A Work at Home Mom and keeping my sanity has proven to be somewhat hard lately. I was warned not to get overwhelmed and I did a pretty good job until about 6 weeks ago…my husband had a work trip for 4 days, I received a large amount of orders(THANK YOU!), our car has been in the shop for a month, our childcare provider has either been on vacation or someone in her family has been sick for 3-4 weeks, needing to move out of my old studio, a water damage issue that ruined a couple of pairs of orders….oh man and the list goes on. At this point I am slightly at a loss-the topic on hand at our house is where I see my business headed…..I really need to get the logistics figured out first to make it through the next few weeks of orders and then we’ll see.

Ok enough doom and gloom-on a happy note our Lilacs are blooming and they smell amazing! Oh and I think I found a part-time employee this week too-yeah! Oh and I totally decided it was ok to eat half of this giant delicious cupcake at 9am today-hey I was up at 6am so it’s almost like it’s lunchtime.

5 Minutes

I’ve been working like crazy to catch up on orders, but was starting to feel a bit burnt out and needed to fit in a creative project of my own. I had 5 minutes, some leftover spraypaint and a squirrel that’s been sitting in our basement for way to long.

Love the Spring Feel now and E loves the jellybeans inside.

Not to worry you but….

Are you Like me and immediately when you hear the words :Not to worry you but….” you immediately start tensing up and worrying? I really think prefacing a startling statement with that phrase really doesn’t help-or atleast doesn’t help personalities like mine

We ended up taking P into Children’s Urgent Care last night, because our babysitter mentioned that she was wobbly all day and might be having some ear trouble-I called our Dr to get an appt for today and they told me to take her in right away. Wouldn’t be such a big deal but we are still without our car #2(which has become a money sucker and I’m not convinced will ever be fixed) and the hubby wasn’t home. Hubby left the retirement party he was at early, and ofcourse we got to Urgent Care and no earache and walking normally. I keep apologizing for being crazy because that’s who I am and I think in an effort to make me feel better the Dr said, not to worry you but they were probably concerned that it was a brain issue affecting her balance and that’s why they had you come in right away. Seriously not to worry you and brain issue should not be in the same sentence. Lucky for me and my hubby I have a lot less anxiety since going on my meds for PPD otherwise I would have been home googling and making him stay up all night checking on P. I know she is fine and am chalking it up to a bad walking day.

Finding the Right Words

We attended the wake last night. After much discussion we decided that it would be better if we didn’t stay for the funeral. We knew the man that passed away and knew many of his friends better, but we came to the conclusion that the actual funeral services should be shared amongst those who knew him well and could try to celebrate his life and heal together-

Like I said we did attend the wake and it made me think-really what are the right words to say to someone that has just unexpectedly lost someone so near and dear….there are no right words or maybe anything you say as long as it is sincere are the right words. All I could muster while hugging this mans mother without crying was “I’m so sorry” and her response which was so sincere and heartfelt….“Me Too”

In retrospect I probably should have reintroduced ourselves before hugging everyone-but like I said I could only muster a few words. I cannot even imagine what they have been going through and will continue to as they heal.

So please keep the family, friends, and sweet girlfriend of Tom Hecht in your thoughts for awhile. They seem like a strong family but I think they will appreciate all of the positive energy being sent their way. O
